Clinton Say Her Health Plan Will Mandate Patients Have Heart Attacks During Business Hours
A new study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association concludes that patients in hospitals who have heart attacks after 11:00pm are more likely to die than those who experience heart failure during hours when the hospital is fully staffed.
Survival rates approach zero for patients who experience cardiac failure while the hospital staff is watching first run episodes of Grey’s Anatomy.

Hospital officials attempted to put a positive spin on the study noting that patients who had late night angina were able to save money on emergency phone calls since most phone companies don’t charge for calls after 9:00pm.
The study was based on an analysis of more than 86,000 cardiac arrests in more than 500 hospitals over seven years. There were 58,593 cardiac arrests during the day or evening. Of those, 11,604, almost 20 percent, survived to leave the hospital.
Of the 20 percent who survived, nearly all suffered subsequent heart failure when they learned that the term “reasonable and customary” meant their insurance would only cover an average of $45.97 of the total bill.

With the Democratic nomination still up for grabs, both candidates used the study to highlight the advantages of their respective health plans. Ms. Clinton’s plan would force people to have heart attacks during business hours. Heart attacks during non-business hours would officially be termed “suicides.”
Senator Obama’s plan would call for hospitals to adopt a more positive vision of the future and embrace real change. Campaign officials said details of the plan would be forthcoming at a later date.
