European Union Fines Microsoft Record $1.3 Billion
The European Union fined Microsoft Corp. a record $1.3 billion Wednesday for the amount it charges rivals for software information. The fine is the largest ever for a single company and brings to just under $2.5 billion the amount the EU has demanded Microsoft pay in a long-running antitrust dispute.
Microsoft immediately said the company plans to pay the fine with change from Bill Gates’ sofa cushions and possibly his cup holders.
EU Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes said Microsoft remains under investigation in two additional cases. “Talk is cheap,” Kroes said. “Flouting the rules is expensive.” (That’s what she really said. That quote was NOT made up. This one, however…) Kroes continued, “When we’re done with them, Gates will have to dip into his dryer lint trap, too.”
The EU feels Microsoft’s actions have stifled innovation and affected millions of people around the world. According to a Microsoft spokesman, “Good. Then we’re doing our job.” He then disappeared in a puff of smoke, leaving behind the unmistakable scent of sulfur and a small pitchfork.

Just get the $ from the ATM I’ve installed in the seventh circle of hell!
