Ford Sells Jaguar, Land Rover To India’s Tata Motors
Indian Company to Achieve Major Cost Savings by Combining Production, Customer Service Department in Same Building
U.S. automaker Ford has agreed to sell its top-of-the-line car brands Jaguar and Land Rover to India’s Tata Motors which means the four people in India who can afford a luxury car will no longer have to pay freight charges.
Members of India’s lower caste will be prohibited from driving the luxury cars and will continue to be forced to drive regular Ford vehicles.
American consumers can look forward to being able to purchase one of these two iconic brands at their local convenience store (in the back, near the Slurpee machine).
A spokesman for Tata Motors indicated there would be no major design changes to either vehicle except for the front windshield which will now feature a red dot in the upper center of the glass.
The company expects to leverage Jaguar’s reputation for needing near continual maintenance by re-marketing the car in commercials featuring Mahatma Gandhi. Ads will urge owners to imagine that breaking down in traffic is merely the car practicing a form of peaceful, non-violent protest.
Many Jaguar owners have already said they will protest higher repair costs by setting themselves on fire.
