Obama Pledges Aid To Afghanistan
Democratic Nominee Travels Overseas After Running Out of Groups to Promise to Help in U.S.
Democratic candidate Barack Obama today made a bold attempt to address critics who claim he doesn’t have the background or foreign policy experience to become President.
After promising governmental help to people in the U.S. with their mortgages, their gas bills, their health insurance, their education, their food shopping, finding a job, losing weight, changing a flat tire and putting together a coffee table from Ikea, the Obama campaign had largely run out of people to throw money at here at home.
Staffers say Obama took control of a potentially disastrous situation as Democratic strategists fretted the campaign had run out of groups to pander to with over three months to go in the race for the White House.
“Is there any reason why we couldn’t commit taxpayers to pay for incompetence around the world, as well as domestically?” Obama asked, noting that there were over 190 other countries where money could be spent inefficiently.
Aides praised Obama’s grasp of the global ramifications, noting their candidate was particularly aware of the higher potential for massive corruption overseas.
“I envision a world where the U.S. takes responsibility, not just for people who can’t manage their own finances and lives here in America, but for people and countries around the world who don’t have the first clue about improving productivity,” Senator Obama intoned.
Obama’s first stop on his global tour is Afghanistan where the President Hamid Karzai continues the pretense of opposing the Taliban and attacks on U.S. soldiers are up 40 percent versus last year.
Responding to the Obama campaign’s pledge to “go global” in spending money, the McCain campaign pledged additional monies for the space program with the idea of launching entire rockets filled with money into outer space to help “life-forms on other planets and galaxies we haven’t even met yet.”
